A fire that broke out today, Saturday, June 27, shortly after 4:00 p.m. in a forested area in Spathari, Euboea.

So far, the fire does not pose a threat to homes or infrastructure, according to the fire department.

Fifty-four firefighters were immediately mobilized, along with one team of foot soldiers from the 20th EMODE and 21 vehicles, while 8 aircraft and 3 helicopters were deployed from the air, one of which is coordinating the operation. At the same time, local government water tankers are providing assistance.

It should be noted that the area where the fire broke out today is classified as a very high risk (Category 4).

Throughout the incident, the Unified Operations and Crisis Management Coordination Center (ESKEDIK) is receiving continuous footage from the drone via visual and thermal cameras.
