He had also played in Greek soccer

The 38-year-old defender is also well known to Greek fans, as he wore the jersey of Atromitos in the early years of his career. He then played on loan for Ethnikos Asteras and Aegaleo, before continuing his career in Argentina, the United States, Colombia, Mexico, and Venezuela.

A few hours before the tragic outcome became known, Trechó had posted a family photo, expressing his hope that his loved ones would be found alive.

According to Argentine media, his father and brother traveled immediately to Venezuela to assist with the investigation.

A post his wife made last April on the occasion of his birthday is also deeply moving.

It is a blessing for our family to have you and to move forward together toward our common goal. With you, everything is always easier and more beautiful,” he had written.

Thousands missing after the devastating earthquakes

Rescue operations are continuing in many areas of Venezuela, following the 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale that caused massive destruction.

According to official reports so far, nearly 70,000 people are still missing, while the confirmed deaths have reached 1,430.

Among the victims is the wife of former baseball player Gorkis Hernández, who bid her farewell with a particularly touching message on social media.
