The order to pay 617,468,049.80 euros to 1,142,948 beneficiaries has been issued by AADE, for the agricultural subsidies for June 2026.
“Today’s payment confirms in practice that the government is honoring its commitments to Greek farmers. Through transparency, strict controls, and full utilization of every available European resource, more than 617 million euros are being directed to those who truly produce and support the Greek economy through their hard work. “The integration of OPEKEPE into the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) is the largest reform currently underway in the country,” said the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Margaritis Schinas.
He added “We are creating a modern, reliable, and transparent payment system, with cross-checks, equal rules for all, and absolute accountability in the management of European funds. Our message to honest producers is clear: they have nothing to fear. On the contrary, they have every reason to feel vindicated, because the new process ensures that the money goes to those who are entitled to it— to those who actually produce, and not to those who try to exploit loopholes and flaws in the system. Through consistency, transparency, and fairness, we are restoring confidence in the agricultural subsidy system and strengthening production in the primary sector as well as the country’s international image.”
For his part, the Director of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue, George Pitsilis, noted, “Consistent with the announced plan, we are steadily continuing the process of disbursing agricultural subsidies following audits, with the aim of increasing the funds going to those who are truly entitled to them.”
According to the announcement by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue, the amounts are allocated as follows: 112,032,597.73 euros are being paid for the Basic Income Support for Sustainability, €6,186,459.67 for the Supplementary Redistributive Income Support for Sustainability, 577,782.10 euros for Supplementary Income Support for Young Farmers, €22,475,002.01 for Coupled Aid for Plant Production, and €16,674,597.29 for Coupled Aid for Animal Production.
In addition, 440,112,266.57 euros are being paid for Ecological Programs, 14,510,507.40 euros for the Small Aegean Islands, €4,566,801.87 for Special Aid for Cotton Cultivation, and €332,035.16 for the Interprofessional Cotton Organization.
According to the announcement by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food (YPAAT) and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), regarding the payment schedule presented during the press conference held by the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Margaritis Schinas, and the head of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), Giorgos Pitsilis, on May 12, 2026, the total amount disbursed for Pillar I payments during May and June exceeded the initial plan by approximately 101 million euros, reaching 802.4 million euros, compared to 701.3 million euros.
This increase, as noted, is the result of cooperation between the General Secretariat for EU Funds and Infrastructure of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food and the services of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), under the coordination of the Vice Presidency of the Government, as well as the full utilization of the opportunities provided by the EU framework, with the aim of maximizing the use of the budget allocated to Greece by the European Union, for the benefit of those who are truly entitled to the relevant subsidies.
Furthermore, following the completion of the required audits and the full utilization of the opportunities provided by the EU framework, according to the same announcement, the government’s commitment to provide additional support for livestock farming, grain producers, and cotton growers was fully honored, the highest unit rates to date were set for coupled payments and the environmental schemes under the CAP Strategic Plan 2023–2027, while, for the first time, an additional across-the-board increase in the Basic Income Support of up to 15% has been made possible.
According to the announcement, the increase in unit prices does not alter the total amount of funds received by the country, as the national envelope for Pillar I remains fixed under the EU framework. It does, however, allow for the more complete utilization of available funds, so that a larger portion of them is directed to the actual beneficiaries, with correspondingly higher support per producer.
At the same time, it is noted that provisions have been made to settle any outstanding payments within the deadlines set by the regulations, with the necessary funds having been allocated.
Following this payment, the total amount paid to eligible farmers since the beginning of 2026 exceeds 1.061 billion euros, already exceeding the payment target for the first half of the year, which had been set at 1.060 billion euros. This amount does not yet include Pillar II payments under the Single Payment Scheme (SPS), which will be completed by June 30, 2026.
Finally, according to the same announcement, upon completion of Pillar II payments under the Single Payment Scheme, a detailed announcement will follow regarding the total amount of aid paid, as well as the handling of outstanding payments for 2025 and previous years.
