Denounced by Turkey condemns today’s decision by the government of Israelto recognize the genocide of the Armenians.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, “Israel’s recognition today of the genocide of the Armenians of 1915 by Israel is a political decision aimed at covering up the crimes committed by the Israeli army against the Palestinian population in Gaza.”

“The Israeli government, which has systematically persecuted the Palestinian people in full view of the entire world and which is now on trial before the International Court of Justice for genocide against the people of Gaza, is attempting to conceal its own crimes through the political decision it adopted regarding the events of 1915, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release.

It should be noted that Turkey, which regularly accuses Israel of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip —a charge that Israel denies—categorically rejects the term “genocide” to describe the massacres of Armenians under the Ottoman Empire in 1915, during World War I.
