“Economic rage” is the name of the new US military operation in the Sea of Hormuz according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.
Specifically, a report in the newspaper, Wall Street Journal states that “the US Navy has chosen the name ‘Economic Wrath’ for its operations against Iranian ships, aimed at forcing Iran to fully open the Strait of Hormuz.” The same report said that “the scope of this operation will extend beyond the Middle East.”
“The US military is preparing to board Iran-linked oil tankers and sixteen commercial ships in international waters in the coming days,” the Wall Street Journal reported, citing US officials.
Previously, the Associated Press reported that “the carrier ‘USS Gerald R. Ford’ and its accompanying strike group returned to Middle East after leaving the region for maintenance and is currently operating in the Red Sea.”
Meanwhile, some 342 merchant ships remain stranded in the Persian Gulf and cannot cross the Strait of Hormuz. Earlier today, Donald Trump advised that “the Iran cannot blackmail the US“. All this as the ceasefire expires next Wednesday.
Note that three oil tankers came under fire from Iran today, one flagged Britain and two flagged India.
