With the war in Lebanon taking a runaway turn as the ceasefire on the ground was not implemented, the death of a French soldier of the United Nations showed that the situation is tense.
In a show of solidarity and ahead of French President Emanuel Macron‘s visit to Athens, the Greek Foreign Ministry issued a statement to express condolences over the death of the French soldier.
“Greece expresses its deepest condolences on the death of a French UNIFIL peacekeeper killed in southern Lebanon. Our thoughts are with his family and all those who continue to serve under such difficult conditions,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
