As part of the collaboration the production of low-carbon cement will be launched.
CURA Climate Inc (CURA), a Canadian climate technology company that developing electrochemical solutions for the carbonization of cement production, and TITAN Group (TITAN), a leading international provider of building materials and construction solutions, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
As part of the agreement, CURA and TITAN Group will work together to evaluate CURA’s electrochemical limestone separation technology for the production of low-carbon cement. The collaboration will begin with laboratory testing and performance evaluation of CURA’s materials, followed by technical and commercial studies to explore the feasibility of piloting this technology in TITAN Group’s operations.
According to the announcement, CURA’s technology has the potential to reduce CO₂ emissions by 85% compared to conventional clinker production. The solution can also be integrated into existing cement production facilities without requiring significant modifications to existing equipment. The new process harnesses electricity and the innovative redox chemical additive CURALYTE to break down limestone into high purity calcium hydroxide and a concentrated CO₂ stream. By separating the CO₂ from the limestone before the kiln stage, CURA’s technology is redesigning the cement production process, paving the way for a low-carbon future.
