The flight cancellations are not linked to problems in the supply of fuel flight fuel, but to their high prices.
This was made clear today by Brussels, the Transport Commissioner, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, at a press conference shortly after the conclusion of the teleconference ofEU transport ministers.
Asked about theflight cancellations of some European airlines, Ap. Tzitzikostas replied that these so far “are not due to a shortage of aircraft fuel supply, but are related to the very high price of fuel which has over doubled“.
As he explained, this development has led many airlines to reduce or even discontinue some routes that are no longer financially viable. “Even routes that were marginally at the point of profitability are now no longer viable,” he said.
