The start of the process for the Constitutional Review was commented on by Charis Theocharis, noting that the government is moving in an organized and institutional manner.

As he said, the process starts from within the New Democracy, with the aim to follow a broader dialogue with the other parties, which are invited to submit their own proposals.

At the same time, he criticised views that – as he said – constitute an “instrumentalisation” of the process, referring to proposals that suggest voting against changes for tactical reasons, even when there is agreement on the substance.

Mr Theocharis described such approaches as “socialist“, stressing that they are not based on Constitution and undermine the institutional function.

The Constitution provides for a specific procedure and this must not be instrumentalized,” he stressed, calling for compliance with institutional rules.
