In favour of waiving the immunity of MEPs, Anna Efthymiou, on OPEKEPE.

The New Democracy MP Anna Efthymiou expressed her intention to vote in favour of lifting the immunity of MPs, stressing that this is an institutionally necessary procedure.

As she said, this stance is also linked to the fact that the MPs involved have requested the lifting of their immunity, in order for the case to be examined by the Justice.

Ethymiou underlined that it is important that the cases are judged by the “natural judge”, so that no shadows remain and transparency is ensured.

At the same time, he noted that this way prevents the political exploitation of the case by the opposition, leaving points for “working“.

Finally, he pointed out that some of the charges – as he said – “are not so substantiated” on a legal level.
