Extensive damage was sustained by the German-owned ship “EPAMINONDAS” after the attack off the Oman.

In a statement to CNN, Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis confirmed the incident, stressing: “I can confirm that there was an attack on the Greek cargo ship, but I cannot confirm that it has been seized by the Iranians.”

As he explained, the ship has suffered significant damage, but “it has not been seized”.

Earlier, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy clarified that the Liberian-flagged EPAMINONDAS has not been detained, contradicting statements to that effect by Revolutionary Guards.

According to the same reports, both the “EPAMINONDAS” and the also Greek-owned “Euphoriareceived fire while crossing the Sea Strait of Hormuz.

Representative sources point out that the ship is not detained, with the Greek side attributing Tehran’s claims to the contrary to inaccurate information.
