In a post on social media, New Democrat and EPP MEP, Fredi Belleris, responds to what the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, said yesterday at the Delphi Economic Forum.
Specifically, he says that “Mr. Rama appears to continue to disregard the principles of the rule of law which in my case had no application in a country that has even chosen the European path of integration”, stressing that “I want to remind him that I was elected Mayor of Himarra through the prison where he himself by coup methods put me two days before the elections. So if my adventure had “ended wonderfully”, as he claimed yesterday at the Delphi Forum, I would be Mayor of Himarra today, representing my fellow citizens.”
Then, he stresses that “as for the compromise attempted by Mr. Rama with other mayoral cases, I leave his lies to the judgment of his historical future, the citizens of Albania themselves and especially the Greek ethnic minority. Because, the “pattern” he spoke about is the one he established, instrumentalizing the judicial “reform” to change the electoral results that do not suit him.”
“Finally, the fact that the black stain created by Mr. Rama in Greek-Albanian relations is fading today, is entirely due to the decisive actions of Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who placed me on the primary candidate list of our party and to the Greek people who honoured me with their vote. Because only then, it was only then that Mr. Rama realized that no cell can keep Hellenism behind its bars,” he concludes.
