Tradition, arts and history are the basis of this year’s festive program of the Municipality of Peania in honor of its patron saint, St. Athanasius.

For another year, the cultural institutions of the municipality are keeping a leading role in events that begin on Protomay and conclude on Sunday, May 3.

As the mayor of Peania himself Isidoros Madis notes in his message, “with absolute respect to the tradition of our place, but also to each citizen individually, we celebrate St. Athanasius, with a variety of events and actions for all age groups.

Continuing the successful “recipe” of events for St. Athanasius, we have chosen this year to have intense elements of tradition, but also of contemporary art, giving a “platform” to the associations and institutions of our municipality, thus proving that we are not lacking in people of letters and arts. At the same time, we welcome great Greek artists, enhancing the festive program in the best way.”

The program of St. Athanasius combines the ecclesiastical spirit of our city, the love of its people for culture and our living tradition,” he concludes.

The events open with the presentation of the book “Ioannis Kapodistrias – The Other Face of the Governor” by Lefteris Papakostas and conclude with activities for children in squares of the municipality, while two concerts are planned:

On Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Central Square of Vas. Nikos Apergis performs great hits of the Greek pentagram that we all have loved. He will be accompanied by Alexandra Panagiotaru.

On Saturday, May 2, Miltos Filos will take the baton with Anna Moru and their orchestra and welcome “May Thanasis” with a great feast.
