The head of Mossad celebrated the successes of its agents by calling their operations in Iran and Lebanon.
At the annual awards ceremony yesterday, David Barnea, director of external intelligence for Israel, said that the operations that received awards enabled the organization “to outdo itself in Iran and Lebanon”, according to a statement issued today by the Israeli government’s press office.
“We obtained strategic and tactical intelligence at the heart of the enemy’s secrets,” David Barnea said, adding that Mossad “demonstrated new revolutionary operational capabilities in the countries” targeted.
Close cooperation with the Israeli military is, according to the Mossad chief, at the heart of this year’s operations, including the strikes to eliminate high-ranking officials in the heart of Tehran.
One of the operations that received distinction, according to the statement, involved the agents’ on-the-ground modus operandi that allowed the agents’ illegal infiltration into the heart of Tehran, according to the statement.
David Barnea said the Israeli military and Mossad had modified Israel’s “strategic approach” and the organization had become a more aggressive and energetic force in wartime. The agency “will not rest on its laurels,” he added. “When we perceive a threat, we will act with all our might,” he said.
