Strong attack on media and opposition, apotheosis of Kyriakos Mitsotakis and references to economics, energy and international agreements by the health minister.
In particularly high tones and sharp rhetoric, Adonis Georgiades intervened from the podium of the New Democracy’s presidency in Nafplio, raising the political thermometer sharply. The Health Minister defended the government’s work and Kyriakos Mitsotakis, citing significant successes in the economy, energy and international diplomacy. At the same time, he harshly criticized the opposition, accusing it of lack of proposals and systematic negative rhetoric. There was no shortage of references to the media, which he linked to vested interests and targeted political pressure. His speech was moved in a strongly political and communicative style, aimed at highlighting government achievements and comparing them with the opposition field.
Adonis Georgiades appeared to be against the opposition from the stage of the 5th pre-summit of New Democracy in Nafplio, during the discussion on “Modern State for All”, where he praised the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
“I am tired of listening all day to the mire, toxicity and misery of an opposition that has absolutely nothing to propose for the country and media controlled by interests who sleep and wake up with how to bring down Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Kyriakos Mitsotakis should leave so that who can come in?”, the Health Minister said among other things.
Special reference to Kyriakos Mitsotakis
At another point in his speech, Mr. Georgiades referred to the positive course of the Greek economy, referring to the energy agreements and the country’s fiscal surplus.
“I wonder how one must feel being Kyriakos Mitsotakis who has achieved the following in the last 15 days: The Exxon and Energean deal was signed and we are moving forward with mining in the Ionian Sea, then you enjoyed the President of the United States of America singing your praises which was also heard by our neighbours who understand that our foreign policy is a complete success. Then we gave 500 million from the overperformance of the economy to the Greek people, now the opposition is grumbling because only 500 million.”
In fact, addressing Mitsotakis, who was present at the debate, Georgiades referred to Macron’s visit, saying: “You welcomed President Macron in an excellent weekend for those who have a little patriotism in them.”
“I have a lot of fun with the communists”
The Health Minister did not forget the “communists”, saying how they are his greatest fun. “I have a lot of fun with the communists. If I go to a hospital and don’t find them I get sad,” he said.
Finally, Adonis Georgiades also referred to what is being done in our country, saying: “What others do not do, we must do: We must promote our work because the new Greece is being built now.”
