During his introduction to the Council of Ministers, PPrime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis placed particular emphasis on strengthening the role of deputies.
Mitsotakis underlined that their active participation in the formulation of government policies is a practical proof of respect for the elected representatives of the regions.
The Prime Minister noted that the contribution of MPs in consultation on critical issues, such as mountainous regions and insularity, enhances their institutional role and allows them to fight effectively for the prosperity and development of their country.
At the same time, Mitsotakis proceeded to an important institutional clarification on the structure of governance, making it clear that the executive state is a tool that exclusively concerns the executive power and not the legislative.
He reminded that the Constitution clearly defines the distinct obligations of the Government and Parliament, noting however that this distinction does not prevent the smooth cooperation between the two sides.
Closing his remarks, the Prime Minister said that the close contact between the central government and MPs assumes special importance, especially during the development of projects aimed at solving local problems.
