The Minister of Health Adonis Georgiades met today, Wednesday 28 April, with the President of the Medical Association of Athens (IΣA) Giorgos Patoulis at the Ministry of Health.
During their meeting, the Minister of Health discussed with the President of the IAA issues related to the operation of laboratories and the management of the clawback, with the aim of easing the burden on health professionals.
After the meeting, Health Minister Adonis Georgiades said:
“Despite the positive trend of the clawback, which continues to decrease, the dosage of debts owed from clawbacks of past years has created a major problem, leading to the simultaneous collection of two instalments instead of one. Following my consultation with Mr. Thanos Petralia, we accepted the request of the Athens Medical Association and Mr. George Patoulis, and as of next month, we will move the installments forward so that lab technicians will not have to pay two clawback installments at the same time. In this way, we are significantly easing their liquidity and with the constant drop in the clawback we are further enhancing their viability.”.
For his part, IAA President Giorgos Patoulis said:
“There has been a big issue about clawback refunds to both clinics and tender centers, but especially to laboratories. We asked the Minister, and I am happy to say that our request was accepted, that there be a freeze for the next few months on the level of reimbursements. I think that is a positive development and we hope with the strength of everyone, especially the Minister, that the clawback will at some point be zeroed out.”
