The inclusion of the integrated urban redevelopment project of the Episkopi stream side area in Antonis Tritsis program funding was secured by the Mayor of Peania Isidoros Madis.
The project, which includes the redevelopment of public spaces and green areas of the Municipality of Peania in the 5th urban planning unit of the municipality, is funded with 4,738.000,00 € and will change the image in an area that occupies 22,947.41 square meters!
“With the decision of the Minister of Interior Mr. Livanios on Monday, a multi-year effort is completed in the best way! The redevelopment of the coastal area makes the Municipality of Peania a super local destination while entire neighborhoods are upgraded, a total of 5 blocks of public spaces, for the benefit of the entire municipality” said Mayor of Peania Isidoros Madis recalling that this project “had been requested many times in meetings with the leadership of the Ministry of Interior and it was understood that it is of utmost importance. The fullness of time has now come so we are proceeding directly to the tender with the aim of installing the contractor as soon as possible.”
With the completion of the project, a network of exemplary public spaces for rest and recreation is being created, in terms of quality, functionality and aesthetic characteristics, which will become part of the everyday life of the neighborhood.
The study envisages a set of redevelopments, involving both infrastructure works and the installation of equipment, so that, overall, a comprehensive urban regeneration is achieved. The redevelopment will be completed by scraping the existing asphalt pavement and paving it with coloured blocks based on the technology of cold materials. This will significantly improve the thermal and environmental performance of the outdoor spaces.
Among other things, plazas, playgrounds, a fenced area that will function as a dog park covering an area of 645 sq.m, a pump track, a skate track, a ping-pong area, a large park with dense planting, lawns and access paths made of perforated cobblestones, a 685 m2 fenced playground and green zones.
In addition, an outdoor exercise area will be created to promote sports and encourage many age groups to exercise while ensuring the accessibility of the disabled to the exercise equipment, seating areas and shaded areas, as well as to achieve a safe crossing of the site.
The concept of the project is theplacement of outdoor musical instrumentsthat will “introduce” children and adults to different musical instrument sounds.
The construction of an amphitheatre, a chess floor measuring 3.20m x 3.20m and the placement of 4 chess tables is also planned.
Finally, it is worth noting that the design of the project was done with respect to the natural environment of the area.
