The fire at a business in Ilion prompted immediate mobilization of Fire Department, due to the explosions and the extension to the residential buildings.
Residents in Ilion are experiencing difficult times as a dangerous outbreak fire erupted in a workplace at noon Thursday, quickly taking on alarming proportions.
The fire started at an auto parts store, located at the intersection of Andromache and Penelope streets, and within minutes the flames licked the upper floors, directly threatening inhabited apartments.
The situation is considered particularly serious, as strong explosions were reported in the area, most likely due to flammable materials within the business.
To extinguish and contain the front they have rushed in and are operating:
- 32 firefighters battling the flames.
- 13 vehicles of the Fire Service.
- 1 special staircase vehicle for the approach to the higher floors.
