These statements followed a warning issued by Mojtaba Khamenei to the United States on the occasion of National Persian Gulf Day. He had referred to a “new chapter” for the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that Tehran would secure the region and eliminate “the abuses of the enemy.”
Also, Iran’s Supreme Religious Leader noted that the presence of the Americans is the most important reason for insecurity in the Middle East, stressing that stability can only be achieved by removing them from the region.
