In recent days, rumors of a collusion between Charis Doukas and Alexis Tsipras have flared up again, and not coincidentally.

The start was made at the event for Yiannis Boutaris, where Alexis Tsipras and Charis Dukas exchanged compliments: on the one hand, mayor of Athens praised the Prespes Agreement, against the party line and spoke of the need for convergence on the left, on the other hand Alexis Tsipras not only agreed on the convergence of forces but supported him through third parties in the attacks he received through PASOK for what he said about Prespes. The identification was therefore strong and the symbolism has its meaning.

At Charilaou Trikoupis they know that Charis Doukas did not accidentally participate in the same event as Alexis Tsipras. Besides, he did not go to the visit of Kyriakos Mitsotakis to the redevelopment of Vasilissis Olgas because he did not want to be photographed next to the Prime Minister.

But as the leadership of PASOK noticed, with Alexis Tsipras they had no problem to be side by side, to be photographed and to speak flatteringly about each other. The information about the political flirtation is fueled by the fact that the Athens mayor came out a loser in the party’s organs and lost momentum, especially after the dissolution of the alliance he had with Manolis Christodoulakis.

Since then, the Athens mayor seems more… colder with party organs, PASOK people have observed.

The information says that Alexis Tsipras would like Charis Doukas in his new venture, because on the one hand it would be a major blow to PASOK, and on the other it would show that he is opening up to the wider centre-left. And there are common channels between the two politicians, such as Kostas Zachariadis.

However, Charis Doukas may seem particularly… warm alongside Alexis Tsipras, but the mayor’s circle is silent on the rumours and stress that they are only interested in PASOK. However, as a well-known Amalia official commented, the bridges have been opened for good.
