In the negotiations between Iran and the US, Germany is intervening by calling on Tehran to open the Hormuz Strait and halt its nuclear program.
Specifically, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadefull in a communication with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi said: “Germany supports a negotiated solution.”
“As a close ally of the US, we share the same goal: Iran must fully and verifiably renounce nuclear weapons and immediately open Hormuz Strait, as also called for by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio,” Johann Wadefoule underlined.
In recent days, Johann Wadefull and other German officials have been trying to calm the dispute between US President Donald Trump and German Chancellor Friedrich Murch, according to the French News Agency.
Recall that Friedrich Murch stated on April 27 that Iran was “humiliating” Washington at the negotiating table, which prompted a series of angry reactions from Washington. In response, Donald Trump announced that 5,000 troops would be moved from US military bases in Germany. Donald Trump also announced that US tariffs on cars and trucks from the European Union will increase from 15% to 25% in the coming days.
Efforts to end the US-Israeli war on Iran have made no apparent progress since the ceasefire began in early April, and concerns are growing about a new escalation of the conflict.
