Taking emergency measures to address freezing in Astypalaia and Patmos was deemed necessary by the Ministry of Environment and Energy.
Critical steps to safeguard water resources are being taken by the government, as the Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Stavros Papastavrou, has signed the official declaration of Astypalea as a state of emergency.
The decision, which has a three-month duration, was taken with the agreement of RAAEY and the General Secretariat of the Aegean and Island Policy, in order to address the immediate water supply needs of the island.
At the same time, the Ministry’s leadership extended the same special status for Patmos, which will remain in a state of alert for an additional three months.
