Kiev is taking an unyielding stance against Russian proposals for a ceasefire, emphasizing material diplomacy rather than communication gimmicks.

Accusatory denial was expressed by the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenski, regarding the possibility of a temporary cease of hostilities for just 24 hours.

The Ukrainian leader described this scenario as not serious, while noting that his country has not been the recipient of any formal input moving in this direction.

According to Zelensky, piecemeal solutions cannot be a basis for settling the conflict: “A one-day ceasefire with Russia is not an option.”

Putin declares two-day ceasefire with Ukraine to mark World War II anniversary

Vladimir Putin announced a decision to call a two-day ceasefire in the war with Ukraine to commemorate the anniversary of Nazi Germany’s defeat in World War II.

According to reports from Russian news agencies quoting the Russian Defence Ministry, the decision was taken to mark this historic moment, which is a defining moment for Russia and the fight against Nazism.

At the same time, Russian authorities did not specify which sectors or regions would be affected by the ceasefire or whether there would be exceptions for strategic targets.
