The Domna Michailidou considered the request to house an association of people with autism in a building of the Children’s Hospital, aiming to strengthen local structures.
Meeting with Magnesia MPs of the Magnesia municipality was held by Minister Social Cohesion and Family, Domna Michaelidou, on the possibility of granting space in Agria’s Pedopolis to cover the needs of the Association of Parents, Guardians, Caregivers and Friends of Autistic People of Magnesia Prefecture.
The discussion focused on the creation of a Housing for Supported Living for persons with autism, with the aim of strengthening the care, social integration and daily support of the beneficiaries and their families.

The Minister stressed that the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family supports initiatives that respond to the real needs of people with disabilities and their families and will stand by the effort, within the framework of its competences and provided that the institutional, technical and operational conditions are met.
Domna Michaelidou said: “We discussed the possibility of utilizing space in Agrias Pedopolis for the creation of an Assisted Living Home to support people with autism and their families. For a family raising a child with autism, support cannot be theoretical. It needs structures, care, security in daily life and a perspective for the future.
The request is particularly important because it comes with inter-party support from the MPs of Magnesia and expresses a real need of the local society. The Ministry will support this effort, in cooperation with the competent bodies and with respect for the institutional, technical and operational requirements. Our goal is to support solutions that bring care closer to the people who need it.”
