The agenda for parliamentary proceedings thickens over the next two months, with Nikitas Kaklamanis and Thanasis Bouras setting the dates-stations for critical political issues.

In the end of May, the debate in the Plenary of the House of Representatives on the OPEKEPE is expected to come to a head. The debate will focus on the motions submitted by PASOK and Syriza, which recommend the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry. The aim of the investigation is to identify any criminal responsibility of former New Democracy ministers, Spilios Livanos and Fotini Arabatzi, for the management of the organisation.

The debate on PASOK’s proposal for the establishment of an Commission of Inquiry regarding the issue of pmonitoring is postponed to early July. The Speaker, briefing the parliamentary authors after the Conference of Presidents, noted that this will be his recommendation in order to investigate in depth the case of the backlinks.

At the same time, Kaklamani put the functioning of the House on a trajectory of change. He sent letters to the 297 MPs, inviting them to submit their proposals for the revision of the House Rules by June 30. The move is aimed at modernising parliamentary procedures and enhancing transparency.

This coming Monday, 11 May, the asset declarations (Behaviour) of political figures are to be made public. The declarations relate to the financial year 2024 (fiscal year 2023) and the announcement was made by the chairman of the relevant committee, Thanasis Bouras.
