The sixth and final ND pre-conference is taking place today at Thessaloniki, a week before the conference of the party at the Metropolitan Expo, which is considered a key event for the start of the informal election period.
Although the original plan called for the proceedings to begin in Thessaloniki, the curtain finally falls at Pavilion 10 of the DETH. Let’s not forget that for the ruling party, the pre-conferences functioned mainly as a mechanism to activate the party base and contact with local organisations.
The focus today (9/5) will be on national issues and the country’s defense strategy. Specifically, Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to emphasize Greece’s international alliances, the strengthening of its deterrent power and moves he will argue strengthen the country’s position in the region.
The prime minister is expected to refer to the renewal of the Greek-French defence agreement, arms programmes and the Agenda 2030 for the Armed Forces.
Of particular interest is the ministerial panel, which includes Nikos Dendias, Giorgos Gerapetritis and Stavros Papastavrou, while the EU Transport Commissioner will also intervene.Ε., Apostolos Tzitzikostas.
Before the pre-conference, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will inaugurate the Museum of Findings from the excavations of the “Thessaloniki Metropolis” metro, which is housed in the Metropolitan Park “Pavlos Melas”. Afterwards, the Prime Minister will visit the Allied Cemeteries in the Municipality of Ampelokipi-Menemeni, paying tribute to the fallen. The tour will continue at the Thessaloniki International Fair premises.
At the opening of the conference, The President of the Organizing Committee of the Conference, Theodoros Roussopoulos, the acting secretary of the Political Committee of the South-Western Party, will address the opening of the conference, Stelios Kontadakis, the General Director of the party, Giannis Smyrlis, the President of the ND Thessaloniki Executive Committee, Zisis Ioakimovich, and the President of the ONNED, Orfeas Georgiou, and the President of the ONNED, Orfeas Georgiou. Greetings will also be addressed by the regional governor of Central Macedonia, Nana Aedona, and the mayor of Thessaloniki, Stelios Angeloudis.
