Relief for thousands of beneficiaries of the “My House II” scheme, as after weeks of agony, the government has decided to resolve the issue of home loans that were in danger of being “left out” due to stifling deadlines.

Specifically, from the joint announcement by the Ministries of National Economy and Finance and Social Cohesion and Family, in the context of the Housing Policy of the Government, the following is announced:

The deadlines associated with the financing from the Recovery and Resilience Fund are absolutely inflexible, based on the European regulatory framework and the binding milestones of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

In view of the revision of the National Plan “Greece 2.0”, and in the context of the revision proposal submitted by Greece on Friday 8 May 2026, it was deemed necessary to set a specific target for the My House II programme,as failure to reach the relevant milestones in time will result in budgetary implications and loss of resources of the Recovery Fund.

In direct follow-up to the submitted review proposal to the European Commission, and in order to ensure the maximum possible participation of beneficiaries in the My Home IIprogramme and its smooth implementation, the approved housing loans of the programme, which will not be contracted by 2 June 2026, may be contracted until 31 August 2026, with the resources of the Hellenic Development Bank.

In this context, the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis sent a letter to the heads of the banking institutions participating in the program.

It is noted that to date, the My House II programme has recorded a particularly high response from our fellow citizens with the absorption rate reaching 88.7%, as 14,157 housing loans totalling 1,705,800,000 euros have been approved.

The relevant Ministries, in cooperation with the involved bodies, are closely monitoring the progress of the implementation of the My House II programme for its effective implementation for the benefit of the beneficiaries and society as a whole.
