Tomorrow, Wednesday 13 May 2026, is the nationwide, nationwide strike, with a rally at Athens, at 10.30am at Klathmono Square, and in all cities across the country.

This means that all public servants, in every employment relationship, that public services are being “closed”.

The ADEDY in an announcement refers to what will happen tomorrow with the Mass Transport.

So according to the announcement, in response to “news” posts by various media outlets, which do not correspond to reality but are constantly being reproduced, we clarify that Public Transport (PT) is not part of the public sector, the employees in them are not covered by the ADEDY union and therefore our strike tomorrow will not affect their “normal” operation.

The country is on strike

The country will be on strike tomorrow, Wednesday 13 May 2026, as ADEDY has called a 24-hour nationwide strike, with key demands for wage increases and labour rights. With teachers primary and secondary teachers preparing to give a loud presence to demand better conditions in schools and financial rewards.

In its relevant letter, ADEDY said, among other things: “Ahead of us we have the Panhellenic, nationwide strike on 13 May, with all our demands, concerning our wages, measures to deal with increase in price and the general effects of the war developments, flexible labour relations and the demand for the permanent status of contract workers, the disciplinary system, the announcement of the constitutional revision and the abolition of tenure, the serious health and safety issues at workplaces, etc. The strike must be the organized and mass reaction of all civil servants for all fronts of struggle and demands (economic, institutional, security)”.

At the heart of the demands of civil servants are, among others, the defence of the institution of modernity, the restoration of the 13th and 14th salaries, real increases in salaries for decent living, the abolition of the 2% contribution for unemployment, the thawing of the salary scales of the 2016-2017 biennium, the increase of the tax-free threshold to 12.000 euros increased by 3,000 euros for each child, as well as the extension and strengthening of the hazardous and unhealthy work allowance.
