Mark Rutte expressed confidence in the resilience and cohesion of NATO, despite intense geopolitical turbulence around the world. During a press conference in Montenegro, Mark Rutte noted that he remains “extremely optimistic” about the organisation’s future, while acknowledging the serious challenges in Middle East.

Special reference was made to the role European countries are called upon to play in dealing with possible crises in Iran, with a focus on ensuring freedom of navigation in the Straits of Hormuz.

Mr. Route particularly stressed the need to financially strengthen the military capabilities of Europe and Canada, welcoming commitments to a substantial increase in defence spending.
