The courtyard of the Great Hall of the Hellenic Parliament hosted yesterday, Monday 11 May 2026, the concert entitled “MEIZON & EQUABILI Vocal Ensembles, Greek Choral Walk”, an important artistic partnership between the Hellenic Parliament and the Athens Concert Hall.

The President of the Hellenic Parliament Mr. Nikitas Kaklamanis, during his speech at the event, highlighted civicism as the bridge that connects the Parliament with society, while inviting citizens to discover the multidimensional work of the institution, which evolves beyond the intensity of political disputes and the image of the TV debate. “Tonight, you have met the other side of the Parliament. You only know one side, the one you see on the channels with the controversies that go beyond the limits,” said Mr. Kaklamanis, and continued: “But there is also the other Parliament, the one that has opened its doors to all Greeks and all Greeks and could not achieve this better than through culture.”

The President of the Hellenic Parliament did not fail to mention the social dimension of the institution, highlighting important initiatives that have been taken and demonstrate the practical contribution of the Parliament to society and the Armed Forces. In conclusion, Mr. N. Kaklamanis referred to the aesthetic and structural upgrading of the Hellenic Parliament, announcing that during the summer the tender for the major external restoration of this iconic building will be announced, so that with its completion and the installation of new lighting, the Parliament will be a real “jewel” in the centre of the capital.

The highlight of the event were the distinguished vocal ensembles “MEIZON Ensemble” and “EQUABILI Vocal Ensemble”, as well as “Athenian String Quartet Dimitris Dounis”, presenting a program that highlighted the polyphonic musical tradition, with imaginative choral arrangements of traditional songs from Thrace, Macedonia and the Dodecanese. A total of 57 artists, 26 women and 31 men, participated in the musical event, which took place on a specially designed platform in the area outside the Parliament’s entrance hall.

Yesterday’s concert in the courtyard of the Parliament was a top cultural moment, sealing in the most melodic way the important cooperation between the Hellenic Parliament and the Athens Concert Hall, highlighting the power of institutional partnership in the promotion of art, something that is expected to culminate on 24 June with the concert under the direction of the great Stavros Xarchakos and the awarding of the Silver Medal of the Parliament to both him and the great Nana Mouskouri.
