One of the largest recruitment of doctors in recent years, currently underway, was referred to by the Minister of State for Health, Marios Themistokleoys.
Speaking to Mega, he said that the 1,131 recruitments of doctors, concern hospitals and primary health care units across the country.
According to the Deputy Minister of Health, doctors will be in their positions in hospitals in 4 to 6 months and in positions that are “very emergent” they may even be in 3 months.
At the same time, Mr. Themistocleous referring to the announcement of the prime minister for recruitment of nurses said that there will be announcements in the next period of time and that incentives will be given as the profession of nurses is a key pillar of the health system.
40 new total mental health units
In addition , Mr. Themistocleous also mentioned the creation of 40 new mental health units across the country, 21 of which are for autism and 19 for dementia.
Reassuring on Chantavirus
“Our fellow citizen is in quarantine at Attico Hospital,” Marios Themistocles noted of the man who was on the cruise ship where an outbreak of Chantavirus was detected, noting that the man in question was “close contact” and not ill.
“He is not sufferingfrom chantavirus, he is in very good health and we expect the quarantine to pass,” Themistocleous noted, noting that it will be completed in 45 days.
Otherwise, he appeared reassuring about the chantavirus, noting that “there is no cause for concern” as “it is very difficult to transmit it from person to person” since “it takes very close contact and a long time.”
