Who is afraid of legitimacy and who are those who oppose the installation of cameras and turnstiles in universities?
Parties, academics and students are facing their responsibilities in order to stop the miserable phenomena of violence on the premises of higher education institutions and to prevent the violation of the real asylum. The government has made interventions, more are needed, as is the acceleration of those that are pending.
Violence in universities concerns all citizens and some cannot hide behind ideological rigidities that do not even concern students who wish to study. And universities cannot be a sanctuary of lawlessness.
The government has managed to close the issue of occupations and hand over to universities and institutions the spaces that for years – and even decades – have been used by students and persons outside the university as … private spaces and more.
Repositions even about storage areas for contraband from immigrants, drugs and even… ammunition for the various attacks by the known-unknowns came to light after the removal of all these from the institutions.
But more is needed, and most importantly, the… immunity and the political and party umbrella provided to the buffoons and persons who operate in a manner that shows murderous intentions needs to be stopped. But we also need to stop the phenomenon of professors rushing to participate in student movements, as happened recently in the case of AUTH.
Policy is not about protecting those who believe that university institutions are places for the expression of party and other personalities, but about protecting the legitimacy of both the professors and students who wish to study and complete their studies and the parents who pay – in the case of students from other parts of the country – and who wish to avoid delays due to factors such as occupations.
Cameras in universities, like those on the streets, only annoy those who fear legality at a time when their operation is proven to help protect and deter criminal acts. So does the control of those who enter universities, who can only be students and those with jobs.
