The statement of Adonis Georgiades at the 16th Ordinary Congress of New Democracy.

“I am very proud to be at the New Democracy Congress as one of its two vice-presidents for more than 10 years and as a minister of one of the best governments Greece has ever had,” said the New Democracy vice-president and Minister of Health Adonis Georgiades.

“You should be very proud to be in this party of Constantine Karamanlis, the party that kept Greece standing,” he said.

“If we had said 10 years ago that the Greek finance minister would be voted in as chairman of the Eurogroup, we would have been mistaken for wackos. It’s the difference how they see Greece after 7 years of Mitsotakis government,” he said, adding that the dilemma is “Mitsotakis or Greece goes back to decline”.

“What I admire most in the political career of Constantine Karamanlis is when in the Greek Parliament he stood up and told Andreas Papandreou ‘we belong to the West’. Then it was a revolutionary act. Constantine Karamanlis founded the ND party so that we would stay in the West, a great prosperous country,” he stressed.

The Health Minister referred to artificial intelligence and said that in this great change the ND government has brought Greece to the forefront. “No matter how much we are called conservatives, we remain at the heart of the big changes that are taking Greece into the future,” he said.

“I personally have no objection to being called a conservative. I deliberately put on the flag and cross tie. How in this strange age are we going to combine Artificial Intelligence with defending our identity, our tradition, our religion. This party offers both,” he stressed.

“For Greece to be strong, it must have political stability and therefore we must win the 2027 elections. Just as we kept Greece in the euro during the decade of bankruptcy with the Samaras-Venizelos government, we want Greece to continue to be a role model with Kyriakos Mitsotakis. We all need to go back to this great party,” Georgiades added among other things.

For opposition, he said that he is not submitting any proposal but only misery and toxicity.
