A new internal party turmoil is being caused in SYRIZA by the public intervention of Paul Polakis, who launched a sharp attack on the party’s chairman Socrates Famellos, calling for the immediate convening of the Political Secretariat and the Central Committee.

In a post in particularly high tones, the MP for Chania appears to question directly question the stance of the leadership against the scenarios circulating recently for return of Alexis Tsipras with a new political entity, but also for broader rearrangements in the Central Left.

Specifically, Mr. Polakis directly addresses Mr. Famellos, asking the question of what exactly he serves with his “inarticulateness, lack of initiative and indecisiveness”, at a time when, as he notes, there have been previous interventions by Dimitris Hatzisokratis that even speak of “suspension of operation” of SYRIZA, the creation of a new party by Alexis Tsipras and the public discussion about the party of Maria Karystianou and Mr. Famellos has not yet convened a Political Secretariat.
