State-owned Tomer was quick to provide clarification on the incident, claiming the explosion was not due to an accident or attack.
The company said the explosion “was controlled and had been coordinated and planned in cooperation with the authorities“.
The statement attempts to calm concerns following the loud bang heard in the area, and so far there are no reports of injuries or damage.

Tomer is one of the most important state-owned companies in the Israeli defense industry and is involved in the development of critical weapons systems.
