The Russian Defense Ministry said that overnight air defense units intercepted and destroyed a total of 556 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). The shootdowns occurred over 14 Russian regions, annexed Crimea, and the Black and Azov Sea regions, with updates being provided via the Max app.
Moscow and its surrounding region took the brunt of the raid, with authorities recording three civilian deaths and 17 injuries.
Regional Governor Andrei Vorobyov said that defense forces were intensively activated after 03:00 in the morning (local time). From falling debris, two workers died when a house under construction in a village in the region was hit, while a woman was killed by a hit on her home in the Khimki region.
Meanwhile, the Russian capital’s mayor, Sergey Sobyanin, disclosed that there was material damage to apartment buildings, as well as the injury of 12 workers at a construction site near a refinery.
This massive Ukrainian operation manifested itself as a retaliation by Kiev, days after Russian strikes on the Ukrainian capital that had caused the death of at least 24 people.
