A very positive and creative atmosphere took place at the Ministry of Tourism meeting of the Anna Karamanli with the directors of the Schools of Higher Vocational Training (SAEK) of the Ministry of Tourism.

The purpose of the meeting was to exchange views on issues related to the operation of the schools and the overall course of tourism education and training.

According to a statement, during the discussion, the excellent level of cooperation between the political leadership, the officials and the Directors of the SAEKs was confirmed, with the common goal of continuously upgrading the quality of studies and the effective support of young people who choose to pursue a career in tourism.

As the Deputy Minister of Tourism stressed: “The purpose of today’s meeting is to have a meaningful, open and honest dialogue on all issues concerning the operation of our schools and, more broadly, the progress of tourism education and training in our ministry’s SACs.”

Mrs. Karamanlis thanked the directors for their cooperation and dedication, noting: “First of all, I would like to thank you warmly for our cooperation, for the consistency with which you respond to the increased demands of your work and for the dedication you show every day in supporting our schools.”

The discussion focused on the ministry’s initiatives to further strengthen tourism education. Particular emphasis was placed on the announcement of permanent teaching positions for the Tourism SAEKs, with the number of positions increasing from 6 to 21, significantly strengthening the staffing of the schools.

Special reference was made to the experiential education provided by the Tourism SAEKs, the direct link with the labour market and the high absorption rate of graduates. The successful operation of the experimental specialties in the Experimental Tourism SAEK Macedonia, which highlight new and innovative approaches to vocational training, was also highlighted.

As the Deputy Minister said: “We continue with cooperation, a plan and a common goal to continuously upgrade tourism education and the human resources of Greek tourism.”
