The new party of Maria Karystianou was commented on by Serres MP of ND and former Deputy Minister Tassos Hadjivassiliou.

Talking to SKAI, Mr. Hatzivassiliou said on the occasion of the presentation of the new party of Maria Karystianou that “we are not concerned with the rearrangement of the political scene. When I saw the party of Ms. Karystianou, I saw a retrospective. I felt that it is coming out of the dustbin of history.”

Mr Hatzivassiliou noted that in a democracy everyone has the right to create any party or any movement they wish, adding that Mrs Karystianou has judged that this is her political choice.

She stressed, however, that “for the new venture to be politically judged, specific positions, a costed programme and clear answers on all key issues, from education and health to labour and foreign policy, are needed.Promises and promises are not enough.”

As he said, yesterday’s image of the Karstianou party referred, in his estimation, to the era of the anti-memorandum struggle, i.e. “10-15 years back“, both in terms of rhetoric and in terms of style and aesthetics.

He also said that he discerned a party in person and not a movement as presented in the previous period. In the same context, he stressed that “the persons who will staff the project and claim the vote of the people will have to be seen so that they too can be judged publicly and politically.”
