Heavy mourning has been spread across Greek soccer the news death of Paraskevas Anza, who passed away at the age of 49 after a long battling with motor neurone disease (ALS).

The the veteran international defender had been facing serious health problems in recent years,as the disease had significantly worsened his condition and confined him to a wheelchair.

Antzas was one of the top Greek stopper of his generation, leaving a strong imprint on Greek football with the Olympiacos, Xanthi and Doxas Dramas.

At the same time, he wore the Greek national team jersey 26 times, being a key member of the “blue and white” team during a particularly important period for the representative team.
