The hall of the Municipal Council of Heliopolis turned into a field of intense confrontation, with embarrassments occurring during the meeting concerning the vote on the municipal authority’s proposal for the recognition to ETAD of rights to land in the municipality.

According to HlioupoliTimes, the incidents occurred while the reading of the names of the municipal councillors was in progress in the context of the relevant vote. The debate had already reached a high pitch, with the atmosphere in the room being highly charged.

The confrontation with a citizen and the escalation at the meeting

The situation reportedly got out of hand when deputy mayor John Tavoularis reacted strongly towards a citizen who was attending the meeting. He claimed that a verbal attack against him had preceded the meeting, which provoked his reaction and contributed to further aggravation.
