The Domna Michailidou has announced a major simplification of procedures for the Nanny Neighborhood Nanny program, shifting the burden of criminal record checks from citizens to the state.
In a move aimed at cutting red tape and speeding up procedures for the popular “Neighbourhood Nannies” programme, the Department of Social Cohesion and Families has made a move.
The Minister responsible, Domna Michaelidou, referred to the difficulties faced by interested women at the stage of submitting the necessary documents, explaining the reasons that led the government to take immediate action. As the minister pointed out, “we saw that there were queues and problems in moving the nanny candidates to the courts of first instance to obtain the certificate of white criminal record“.
In order to remove this barrier and make it easier for employees who wish to join the registry, the ministry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Governance, changed the model for filing documents, harnessing the power of technology. Describing the new, simplified process, Ms Michaelidou said: “We have done this: now all nanny candidates can, with an affidavit on gov.gr, say “I have a clean criminal record.”.
