State Minister for Foreign Affairs Alexandra Papadopoulou travelled to Tripoli for the restarting of the Greece-Libyadialogue based on international law and bilateral cooperation.

At a period of intensified diplomatic processes in the Eastern Mediterranean, Athens is moving forward with targeted initiatives to restore and strengthen channels of communication with Tripoli, seeking to stabilize a complex and sensitive area of relations. The visit of Deputy Foreign Minister Alexandra Papadopoulou to Libya and her participation in the second meeting of the Joint Greek-Libyan Technical Committee on the demarcation of maritime zones are part of this strategic direction, with emphasis on reaffirming the framework for dialogue and maintaining an institutional process of contact based on international law and promoting bilateral cooperationon a wide range of issues of common interest.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Alexandra Papadopoulou visited Tripoli on the occasion of the second meeting of the Joint Greek-Libyan Technical Committee on the Delimitation of Maritime Zones.

Commitment

According to a Foreign Ministry statement, the two sides reiterated their commitment to continue the constructive dialogue on the basis of international law.

Both sides also underlined their commitment to further promote bilateral cooperation on a wide range of issues of common interest.

During the visit, Deputy Foreign Minister Alexandra Papadopoulou met with Libyan Foreign Minister Taher al-Baur, reaffirming the common will to strengthen the traditionally close bilateral relations between Greece and Libya.
