The wave of resignations has begun in SYRIZA, with Vasilis Tsirkas announcing his departure from the party.

Vasilis Tsirkas, a former member of parliament for SYRIZA and a member of the Central Committee, announced his resignation from the party today. He does not, of course, explain exactly why he is resigning, but all signs point to him doing so in order to join ELAS, the party of Alexis Tsipras.

In his post, the former MP emphasizes that he is proud of SYRIZA’s time in government, claiming that it left a… mark of social justice. In this way, he thanks his former comrades for the struggles they waged.

He concludes by saying that a new path is opening up for him, with the same ideas, for a progressive movement that serves the country’s historical needs. See ELAS of Alexis Tsipras.

According to reports, in the coming days there will be mass resignations of SYRIZA officials, with the aim of having Alexis Tsipras accept them into his new venture. However, the MPs are more… hesitant, because they would also have to resign from their parliamentary seats, which is by no means easy.
