Marizeta Antonopoulou of ELAS revealed what we all knew about Alexis Tsipras and his promises.
Specifically, Marizeta Antonopoulou from Open made a series of commitments, saying that they have a program as a party, but… it hasn’t been costed yet. This naturally brings to mind what SYRIZA used to say.
Of course, the question here is different: How do you create a program with commitments without first costing them out?
The phrase “we’ll cost it out soon” brings to mind the Thessaloniki programs that the government of Alexis Tsipras never implemented. And a number of SYRIZA officials have admitted that they knew what they were saying could not be realized.
New taxes
However, the spokesperson for Alexis Tsipras revealed something else as well. That the former prime minister plans to tax society again in order to distribute benefits.
As Ms. Antonopoulou herself stated, the program may not have been costed, but the money will come from raising taxes on the wealthy and increasing the tax on dividends. Previously, Alexis Tsipras and Theano Kufonikolaou have spoken about… a “patriotic tax” on businesses, sometimes saying it will be permanent, other times not.
In other words, the party of Alexis Tsipras is promising new taxes and benefits. But what if all of them move their tax domiciles abroad? Especially the companies? Or stop being so profitable?
Small print for the luminaries of Alexis Tsipras. After all, the former prime minister is promising the same failed recipe under a different name.
