Kostas Kourkoulos commented on the behind-the-scenes maneuvers of Alexis Tsipras regarding SYRIZA and ELAS in a particularly apt manner.
Kostas Kourkoulos emphasized in a Facebook post that Alexis Tsipras is a master cynic. And immediately afterward, he explained why.
As he wrote following the latest major defeat of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras decided to dissolve the party so he could return as a savior. So he handed the reins to Stefanos Kasselakis, who was inexperienced and seemed unlikely to succeed for many reasons, obviously because he had no connection to the Greek political scene, let alone with the Left and Koumoundourou.
However, Stefanos Kasselakis turned out to be more… cunning than the former prime minister had expected and tried to oppose Alexis Tsipras. We recall the revelations about the slush funds of SYRIZA under Tsipras, the strange invoices, the debts, and everything related to them.
Thus, Alexis Tsipras, along with willing members within SYRIZA plotted a coup against Stefanos Kasselakis at the bouzouki club. As he writes, they did so with all the hallmarks of the Stalinist underworld.
That’s more or less how they ousted him, and Alexis Tsipras had already managed to dismantle SYRIZA with a slew of splits. At the same time, citizens were seeing that the party was a mess.
And why did he do all this? Well, to return and take over the shop—that is, certain officials and the assets of SYRIZA—as he sees fit. And ultimately, to satisfy his personal ambitions.
As the well-known lawyer concludes, ELAS under Alexis Tsipras is therefore the product of a series of unprecedented atrocities. And you can’t really blame him.
