A sharp response to the statement by the Alexis Tsipras Institute was given by the Minister of State, Akis Skertsos, via a post on Facebook.
“Our people say that too many words are poverty. Like the poverty we experienced under the bankruptcy and overtaxation program of the former SYRIZA and current ELAS. And unfortunately, the INAT announcement says a lot without actually saying anything,” Mr. Skerzos points out.
It should be noted that in his post, the Minister of State makes a special reference to Euclid Tsakalotos, saying that he was the only one “who understood and admitted that SYRIZA’s government program failed at the polls in 2023 because it was not—as it should have been—realistic and costed.”
Skerzos’ post in full:
Response to the announcement by the Alexis Tsipras Institute regarding the opposition’s tax populism.
Our people say that empty talk is poverty. Like the poverty we experienced under the bankruptcy and overtaxation program of the former SYRIZA and current ELAS. And unfortunately, the INAT statement says a lot without actually saying anything.
In the end, the only one who understood and admitted that SYRIZA’s government program failed at the polls in 2023 because it was not —as it should have been—realistic and costed, was Mr. Tsakalotos.
Perhaps that is why he was “punished” by being expelled from Mr. Tsipras’s new-old party, which continues undeterred with the same bankrupt and failed policies.
But “to err twice (or thrice) is not the mark of a wise man.”
