The team behind PosoKanei , a new price comparison platform for consumers, presented Takis Theodorikakos at the Ministry of Development.
Following the presentation of the new tool for consumers aimed at tackling high prices to Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Maximos Mansion, Takis Theodorikakos held a press conference to present the details on how to use PosoKanei.
The presentation was attended by the Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou and the head of the Independent Authority for Consumer Protection, Despoina Tsangari.
With consumer protection as its top priority, PosoKanei.gov.gr is now live, an important tool for consumers, as described by Minister of Development Theodoros Theodorikakos during the presentation of the digital platform.
Participants in the press conference include Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos, Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou, Despoina Tsangari, Director of the Independent Authority for Market Supervision and Consumer Protection, as well as George Papadimitriou, co-founder and CEO of Keyvoto.
As Mr. Theodorikakos noted, market inspections have already increased significantly, and the Code of Conduct to combat misleading discounts has been enacted, thereby strengthening market credibility.
At the same time, a new bill on consumer protection and loan management is currently under public consultation, with the aim of taking citizens’ views into account.
At the same time, an emergency measure capping profit margins for supermarkets and food manufacturers has been implemented, as a necessary intervention due to inflationary pressures caused by international developments, such as the war.
In this context, this new tool was introduced, providing real-time updates on product prices at every supermarket chain, enabling consumers to choose the most cost-effective option. Through the Consumer Authority, the information will be directly accessible via mobile devices, and a two-month price history will be available.
“Every citizen will be able to assess whether a promotion is genuine or misleading. Informed consumers have power, and when they use it correctly, they help create a fairer and more transparent market for everyone,” the Minister of Development emphasized.
As Despoina Tsangari, Director of the Consumer Authority, pointed out, the new initiative is an important step toward enhancing market transparency.

The app will feature more than 9,500 products, allowing consumers to create their own shopping lists, calculate the total cost, and choose the option that best suits their needs, both in terms of price and availability.
It is important to emphasize that the app does not tell consumers what to buy. Instead, it provides them with a complete picture of the market, empowering them to make informed and advantageous decisions.
In this way, transparency becomes an essential tool for empowering citizens, while simultaneously fostering healthy competition for the benefit of all.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis: Another weapon in the fight against high prices
He focused on strengthening transparency in the market and providing citizens with more tools to combat high prices, Kyriakos Mitsotakis focused on these issues as he presented the new digital app “posokanei.”
The prime minister described the platform as yet another substantial step in the fight to curb the cost of living, emphasizing that consumers now have the ability to directly compare product prices both among the country’s major supermarket chains and with corresponding prices in European markets.
“Greek consumers are gaining yet another weapon in the battle against high prices and the rising cost of living,” he noted, adding that the ability to compare prices in Greece and abroad in real time is reshaping the market, particularly for multinational companies.
As he emphasized, access to comparable price data strengthens competition and makes it more difficult to maintain unjustified price differences at the expense of Greek consumers. “High prices in Greece compared to other European Union markets can no longer be easily tolerated,” he noted.
The platform collects daily data from the largest retail chains, initially covering approximately 10,000 products. At the same time, it allows users to track price history, create shopping lists, and calculate the total cost per store, while also suggesting more affordable alternative products.
The app is available both through the websiteposokanei.gov.gr and on Android and iOS mobile devices.
In closing, Kyriakos Mitsotakis reiterated that tackling high prices remains a key government priority, noting that the battle will be won “with real solutions and measurable results, not with empty promises.”
