The Municipality of Peania is joining the battle against Alzheimer’s by organizing, in cooperation with the NGO Apostion Alzheimer’s unit of the NGO Mission, information activities on the disease that afflicts a large part of the population.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common type of dementia in adults third age and is characterized by slow progressive cognitive and behavioral decline with a prominent feature of mnemonic dysfunction, which occurs early in the clinical course. Alzheimer’s disease accounts for 60% of all cases of dementia.In our country it is estimated that there are over 150,000 people with some form of dementia.

Participants will be informed about the stages of disease while those over 60 years of age will be given a free memory test.

The first information action will take place on 21 April 2026, at the KAPI Peania (7A Vasilissis Frideriki in Peania) at 10.00. From 11.00 to 14.00 the free memory tests will take place.

One week later, on April 28, 2026 the action will be repeated at the CAPI of Sweet Waters (25th of March 5, Sweet Waters) at the same time.
