Immediate response by the Fire Department at a fire at the “Skouloodi” in Heraklion, with an investigation into the causes by the Investigative authorities.

In a state of heightened alert, Fire Department forces were placed on standby this afternoon in Heraklion, following the outbreak of a fire inside the “Skouladis” warehouses in the Athanata area—an incident that prompted an immediate response with fire trucks and firefighters at the scene and led to the rapid extinguishment of the fire before it could spread further through the facilities. Initial reports indicate that property damage occurred, while the Fire Department’s Investigative Division has already taken charge of investigating the causes, in an incident that occurred at a site which has recently been at the center of discussions due to plans to use it as a temporary detention facility migrants.

An operation by the Fire Department, was launched earlier this afternoon in Heraklion, following a fire that broke out at the “Skouladis” warehouses in the Athanata area.

At the scene, officers from the Fire Department’s Investigative Unit

Three fire trucks with eight firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene and managed to extinguish the flames that had broken out inside the warehouses, causing damage.

Fire Department investigators also rushed to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.

It should be noted that over the past 24 hours, this particular warehouse complex has been at the center of discussions, as there are plans to set up a temporary migrant detention facility there.
